A German once visited a temple under construction where he saw a sculptor making an idol of God. Suddenly he noticed a similar idol lying nearby. Surprised, he asked the sculptor, "Do you need two statues of the same idol?" "No," said the sculptor without looking up, "We need only one, but the first one got damaged at the last stage." The gentleman examined the idol and found no apparent damage. "Where is the damage?" he asked. "There is a scratch on the nose of the idol." said the sculptor, still busy with his work. "Where are you going to install the idol?"

The sculptor replied that it would be installed on a pillar twenty feet high. "If the idol is that far, who is going to know that there is a scratch on the nose?" the gentleman asked. The sculptor stopped his work, looked up at the gentleman, smiled and said, "I will know it."

The desire to excel is exclusive of the fact whether someone else appreciates it or not. "Excellence" is a drive from inside, not outside. Excellence is not for someone else to notice but for your own satisfaction and efficiency...

கண்ணதாசன் பாடல்கள் ஒரு பார்வை

“கங்கை வெள்ளம் சங்குக்குள்ளே அடங்கிவிடாது!”

இறைவன் இரண்டு பொம்மைகள் செய்தான்

தான் விளையாட – அவை

இரண்டும் சேர்ந்தொரு பொம்மையை செய்தன

தாம் விளையாட’

-மொழித்திறன், செவித்திறன் அற்ற ஓர் ஆணும் பெண்ணும் மணந்து கொள்கின்றனர். ஒரு குழந்தையையும் பெற்றுக் கொள்கின்றனர். அவர்களின் வாழ்வின் குறுக்குவெட்டுத் தோற்றத்தை இதைவிட சிறப்பாகவும் துல்லியமாகவும் ஒரு திரைப்படப் பாடலில் பதிவு செய்ய இயலுமா?

மற்றொரு திரைப்படத்தில், தான் காதலித்த பெண் மற்றொருவனை மணந்துகொண்டு அந்தக் கணவனுடன் மருத்துவமனைக்கு வருகிறாள். அந்தக் கணவனைக் காப்பாற்ற வேண்டிய பொறுப்பு மருத்துவனான அந்தக் காதலனுக்கு ஏற்பட்டு விடுகிறது. அந்தச் சூழ்நிலைக்கு ஒரு பாடல்…

“வருவாய் என நான் தனிமையில் இருந்தேன்

வந்தது வந்தாய் துணையுடன் வந்தாய்

துணைவரை காக்கும் கடமையும் தந்தாய்

தூயவளே நீ வாழ்க!’

தமது எழுதுகோலால் திரைவானில் நவரசங்களையும் அனாயாசமாக அள்ளித் தெளித்த அற்புத மேதை கவியரசர் கண்ணதாசனின் திரைப்படப் பாடல் வரிகளே இவை.

எந்தவொரு உணர்ச்சியையும் பேசாது அவரது பேனா விட்டு வைக்கவில்லை. மனித வாழ்வில் நிகழும் எந்தவொரு சம்பவத்திற்கும் அவரது ஏதாவது ஒரு பாடல் பொருந்திப் போவதை நாம் காணலாம்.

“மலர்ந்தும் மலராத பாதி மலர்போல

வளரும் விழி வண்ணமே – வந்து

விடிந்தும் விடியாத காலைப் பொழுதாக

விளைந்த கலை அன்னமே!

நதியில் விளையாடி கொடியில் தலைசீவி

நடந்த இளந்தென்றலே – வளர்

பொதிகை மலை தோன்றி மதுரை நகர் கண்டு

பொலிந்த தமிழ் மன்றமே!’

இப்படிப்பட்ட இலக்கிய நயம் கமழும் நல்ல தமிழ் வரிகளை ஒரு திரைப்படப் பாடலின் பல்லவியாக அமைப்பதற்கு மிகப்பெரிய துணிச்சல் வேண்டும்.

இப்பாடல் ஈட்டிய பெருவெற்றி, திரைப்படப் பாடல்களை எளிமை என்கிற பெயரில் மலினப்படுத்திக் கொண்டிருந்த பல மாய்மாலக்காரர்களின் வாயை அடைத்தது.

அதுபோலவே தனது பாடலின் முதல் வரியிலேயே ரசிகனின் மனதைச் சுண்டியிழுப்பதில் வல்லவர் கண்ணதாசன்.

“பொன்னை விரும்பும் பூமியிலே

என்னை விரும்பும் ஓருயிரே’

“சொன்னது நீதானா?’

“நலந்தானா? நலந்தானா?

உடலும் உள்ளமும்

நலந்தானா?’

“இன்னும் பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்தால்

என்னாவது?’

“ஒரு தரம் ஒரே தரம்

உதவி செய்தால் என்ன பாவம்?’

“ஒருநாள் போதுமா?’

“ஆண்டொன்று போனால்

வயதொன்று போகும்’

“ஏன் பிறந்தாய் மகனே

ஏன் பிறந்தாய்?”

“எங்கிருந்தாலும் வாழ்க!’

-என்று கூறிக்கொண்டே போகலாம்.

மேலும் ஒரு பாடலில் முதல் மூன்று வரிகளை ஒரே மாதிரி அமைத்துவிட்டு நான்காவது வரியில் எதிர்பாராத ஒரு திருப்பத்தைத் தருவதும் இவர் வழக்கம்.

“கண்ணழகு பார்த்தால் பொன் எதற்கு?

கையழகு பார்த்தால் பூ எதற்கு?

காலழகு பார்த்தால் தெய்வத்துக்கு

கருணை என்றொரு பேர் எதற்கு?’

“அஞ்சனம் கொண்டாள் நகை கொண்டாள்

அச்சம் நாணம் மடம் கொண்டாள்

மஞ்சள் குங்குமம் மலர் கொண்டாள்

மனதையும் சேர்த்து ஏன் கொண்டாள்?’

“ஆடச் சொல்வது தேன்மலர் நூறு

அருந்தச் சொல்வது மாங்கனிச் சாறு

கூடச் சொல்வது காவிரி ஆறு

கொடுப்பார் கொடுத்தால் மறுப்பவர் யாரு..”

“கூடிவந்த மேகமென்று கூந்தலைத் தொட்டார் – வண்

குவளைபோல மலர்ந்ததென்று கண்களைத் தொட்டார்

ஓடிவந்த கனிகளென்று இதழ்களைத் தொட்டார் – தொட்டால்

ஒடியுமென்று இடையை மட்டும் தொடாமல் விட்டார்!”

பல்வேறு புராண, இதிகாச இலக்கியங்களை கவிஞர் ஆழ்ந்து அறிந்திருந்ததனால் இவரது ஒருசில பாடல்களில் அதிலும் ஓரிரு வரிகளில் மட்டும் அந்தப் பாதிப்பு துவக்கமாகத் தெரியும்.

“காலங்களில் அவள் வசந்தம்’ (பகவத்கீதை)

“தோள் கண்டேன் தோளே கண்டேன்’ (கம்பர்)

“நதிவெள்ளம் காய்ந்து விட்டால்

நதி செய்த குற்றம் இல்லை’ (கம்பர்)

“அன்றொரு நாள் இதே நிலவில்’ (பாரி மகளிர்)

“வீடு வரை உறவு

வீதி வரை மனைவி’ (சித்தர்கள்)

“உன்னை நான் பார்க்கும்போது

மண்ணை நீ பார்க்கின்றாயே’ (குறள்)

“கண்வண்ணம் அங்கே கண்டேன்

கை வண்ணம் இங்கே கண்டேன்’ (கம்பர்)

மூங்கில் இலைமேலே

தூங்கும் பனிநீரே(கம்பர்)

“ஆட்டுவித்தால் யாரொருவர் ஆடாதாரே’ (வள்ளலார்)

கல்லெல்லாம் மாணிக்க கல்லாகுமா (அருணகிரிநாதர்)

சொல்லடி அபிராமி (பாரதி)

உன் கண்ணில் நீர் வழிந்தால் (பாரதி)

வாயின் சிவப்பை விழி வாங்க

மலர்க்கண் வெளுப்பை வாய் வாங்க (கலிங்கத்துப் பரணி)

-இப்படி ஏராளம்…

ஆனால் அந்த ஓரிரு வரிகளைத் தொடர்ந்து அப்பாடலை கவிஞர் கட்டமைக்கும் விதம் அபாரம்.

உதாரணமாக “உன் கண்ணில் நீர் வழிந்தால்’ பாடலின் சரணத்தில் வரும்

“பேருக்கு பிள்ளையுண்டு – பேசும்

பேச்சுக்கு சொந்தம் உண்டு – என்

தேவையை யாரறிவார்? உன்னைப்போல்

தெய்வம் ஒன்றே அறியும்!’

என்கிற வரிகள் கல் மனதையும் கரையச் செய்யுமே.

அதுபோலவே “நலந்தானா’ பாடலின் சரணத்தில் வரும்

“கண்பட்டதால் உந்தன் மேனியிலே

புண்பட்டதோ அதை நானறியேன்

புண்பட்ட சேதியை கேட்டவுடன் – இந்த

பெண்பட்ட பாட்டை யாரறிவார்?

என்ற வரிகளும் மிகவும் வியந்து ரசிக்கத் தக்கவை.

ஒரு திரைப்படத்தில் நாயகனும் நாயகியும் நேரில் பார்க்காமலே காதல் கொள்கின்றனர். நாயகியைத் தேடி வரும் நாயகன் நாயகியின் தோழியை நாயகி என நினைத்துப் பழக, தோழியும் அவனை விரும்புகிறாள்.

அப்போது நாயகி தோழியைப் பார்த்து பாடும் ஒரு பாடலில்,

“கடலும் வானும் உள்ளவரை – தென்றல்

காற்று நடந்து செல்லும்வரை

வளர்க உந்தன் பள்ளியறை – நீ

வாழ வைப்பாய் அந்த நல்லவரை!’

என்று எழுதியிருப்பார். இதனை எப்படி வெறும் திரைப்படப் பாடல் என்று ஒதுக்க முடியும்?

“இயற்கை அழுதால் உலகம் செழிக்கும்

மனிதன் அழுதால் இயற்கை சிரிக்கும்!’

என்றும்,

“எறும்பு தோலை உரித்துப் பார்க்க யானை வந்தது

இதயத் தோலை உரித்துப் பார்க்க ஞானம் வந்தது’

என்றும் பெரிய தத்துவங்களை எளிமையாக கூறி ரசிக்க வைப்பார் கண்ணதாசன்.

கல்லூரி வாழ்வின் பிரிவு நிலை பாடலான

“பசுமை நிறைந்த நினைவுகளே

பாடித் திரிந்த பறவைகளே’

பாடல் ஒலிக்காத கல்லூரிகள் இன்றுவரை இல்லை. அதிலும் அப்பாடலின் சரணத்தில் வரும்

“எந்த ஊரில் எந்த நாட்டில்

என்று காண்போமோ?

எந்த அழகை எந்த விழியில்

கொண்டு செல்வோமோ?’

போன்ற வரிகளே கண்ணதாசனை தனித்துவம் மிக்க கவிஞராக அடையாளப்படுத்துகின்றன.

ஒரு படத்தில்,

“நான் நிரந்தரமானவன்

அழிவதில்லை – எந்த

நிலையிலும் எனக்கு மரணமில்லை!’

என்று எழுதியவர் வேறொரு படத்தில்

“மனிதன் நினைப்பதுண்டு

வாழ்வு நிலைக்குமென்று

இறைவன் நினைப்பதுண்டு

பாவம் மனிதனென்று!’

எல்லாவித உணர்ச்சிகளையும் சித்திரிப்பதில் கண்ணதாசன் வல்லவர்.

ஆயினும் அவரது காதல் தோல்வி பாடல்களே அவரைப் புகழின் உச்சிக்கு இட்டுச் சென்றது என்று கூறுவது மிகையன்று.

“நினைக்கத் தெரிந்த மனமே – உனக்கு

மறக்கத் தெரியாதா?

பழகத் தெரிந்த உயிரே – உனக்கு

விலகத் தெரியாதா?’

“எனது கைகள் மீட்டும்போது

வீணை அழுகின்றது

எனது கைகள் தழுவும்போது

மலரும் சுடுகின்றது.’

“உன்னைச் சொல்லி குற்றமில்லை

என்னைச் சொல்லி குற்றமில்லை’

எங்கிருந்தாலும் வாழ்க – உன்

இதயம் அமைதியில் வாழ்க’

“கடவுள் மனிதனாக பிறக்க வேண்டும் -அவன்

காதலித்து வேதனையில் வாட வேண்டும்’

இப்படிப் பலப்பல.

காதலில் தோல்வியுற்று கையறு நிலையில் கலங்கி நிற்கும் நம் இளைஞனின் மனக்குமுறலை கவிஞர் ஒரு படத்தில் பாடலாக வடித்திருப்பதை காண்போம்.

எந்த ஊர் என்றவனே

இருந்த ஊரை சொல்லவா?

அந்த ஊர் நீயும்கூட

அறிந்த ஊர் அல்லவா?

என்று தொடங்கும் அந்தப் பாடல் பல ஊர்களின் பெயரை தன் நிலையோடு ஒப்பிட்டுக் கூறிவிட்டு இறுதியில்,

பள்ளத்தூர் தன்னில் என்னை

பரிதவிக்க விட்டுவிட்டு

மேட்டூரில் அந்த மங்கை

மேலேறி நின்று கொண்டாள்!

கீழூரில் வாழ்வதற்கும்

கிளிமொழியாள் இல்லையடா!

மேலூரு போவதற்கும்

வேளைவர வில்லையடா!

என்று முடியும்!

மானுட வாழ்வின் சாரத்தை மையாக்கி திரைப்படப் பாடல்களை உருவாக்கிய அந்த மகத்தான கவிஞனை வெறும் திரைப்படப் பாடலாசிரியர் என்று கூறி தமிழுலகம் ஒருபோதும் ஒதுக்காது; ஒதுக்கவும் இயலாது.

ஏனெனில் “கங்கை வெள்ளம் சங்குக்குள்ளே அடங்கிவிடாது!”

கவியரசரின் இனிய எளிய காலத்தால் அழிக்கமுடியாத காவியப் பாடல்களில் சிலவற்றை இந்த நல்ல நாளில் நினைவு கூறுவது நமது வாழ்க்கையின் சில நிமிடங்களை மேலும் இனிமைப்படுத்தும்!

"To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me.

It is the most requested column I've ever written.
My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good..
2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.
5. Pay off your credit cards every month.
6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.
8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.
9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.
10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.
12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.
13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.
15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.
16. Take a deep breath It calms the mind.
17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.
19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is upto you and no one else.
20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.
21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie.
Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.
22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.
23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.
24. The most important sex organ is the brain.
25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.
26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words :'In five years, will this matter?'
27. Always choose life..
28. Forgive everyone everything.
29. What other people think of you is none of your business.
30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.
31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
32. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
33. Believe in miracles.
34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.
35. Don't audit life.. Show up and make the most of it now.
36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.
37. Your children get only one childhood.
38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.
41. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
42. The best is yet to come...
43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
44. Yield.
45. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift"

The Haircut, worth reading !!

One day a florist went to a barber for a haircut.
After the cut, he asked about his bill, and the barber replied,
'I cannot accept money From you,
I'm doing community service this week.'
The florist was pleased and left the shop.
When the barber went to open his shop the next morning,
There was a 'thank you' card and a dozen
Roses waiting for him at his door.

Later, a cop comes in for a haircut,
And when he tries to pay his Bill, the barber again replied,
'I cannot accept money from you ,
I'm doing community service this week.'
The cop was happy and left the Shop.
The next morning when the barber went to open up,
There was a 'thank you' card and a dozen
Donuts waiting for him at his door.

Then a Member of Parliament came in for a haircut,
And when he went to pay his bill, the barber again replied,
'I can not accept money from You.
I'm doing community service this week.'
The Member of Parliament was very happy and left the shop.
The next morning, when the barber went to open up,
There were a dozen MPs lined up waiting for a free haircut.

And that, my friends, illustrates the fundamental difference between

The citizens of our country and the politicians who run it.

The Mayonnaise Jar - Set ur priorities - WORTH A READ

When things in your life seem, almost too much to handle,

When 24 Hours in a day is not enough,

Remember the mayonnaise jar and 2 cups of coffee.

...

Professor stood before his Philosophy class and had some items in front of
him.

When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty
mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls.

He then asked the students if the jar was full.

They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar.

He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between
the golf balls.

He then asked the students again if the jar was full.

They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar.

Of course, the sand filled up everything else.

He asked once more if the jar was full.

The students responded with a unanimous "yes".

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and
poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty
space between the sand.

The students laughed.

"Now," said the professor, as the laughter subsided, "I want you to
recognize that this jar represents your life.

"The golf balls are the important things - your family, your children, your
health, your friends, and your favorite passions - things that if
everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be
full.

"The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house,
and your car.

"The sand is everything else--the small stuff.

"If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room
for the pebbles or the golf balls.

"The same goes for life.

"If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never
have room for the things that are important to you.

"Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.

Play with your children.

"Take time to get medical checkups.

"Take your partner out to dinner.

"Play another 18.

"There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal.

"Take care of the golf balls first, the things that really matter.

"Set your priorities.

"The rest is just sand."

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee
represented.

The professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked.

"It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem,
there's always room for a cup of coffee with a friend."

Friendship vs Love

WHY ????

why always before getting a loan first we need to prove we don't need it at all?

I can never find determine which side of the bread to butter, but if it falls down
, it always land on the buttered side..

why mom's first choice is "no" while replying to any of my question .

As soon we mention something?? if confused with good or bad... bad happens :(

If you are early, the bus is late.. if you are late the bus is still late :P

whenever we are in a queue, the other line always moves faster..

If we bunked the class , the teacher has taken attendance..

why we pick up max wrong no while in roaming ??

The door bell and mobile.. always ring when we are in bathroom ??

If you are having exams tomorrow , there will be power cut tonight !

Irrespective of the direction of the wind, the smoke from the cigarette always tend to go to the non-smoker

once we have bought something , find the same item being sold somewhere else at a cheaper rate.. !!!!
