When I start watching cricket, I use to see one person who stands at one end and simply blocking the deliveries. I use to think that, blocking more and more deliveries will increase the power to hit sixes later - like a video game. But I hardly saw any.
I use to see bowlers ran from boundary line, bowls 140-150kms deliveries and he stand tall and defend it like nothing happened. There I understo...od, passing through this WALL is not that easy.
There were bowlers who swung from east to west, north to south and this guy simply let it go like it’s a child’s play.
There were spinners who thought the world of physics and cricket, but there was this guy who stands tall in the middle like an unsolved mystery.
After all those failed attempts in front of the wicket, many attacked him verbal from behind the wicket. He replied back with a strait bat.
Every time he walks in, I felt HOPE is walking into the middle. I use to see a lonely warrior who fought till the end. Every time he plays a shot or defends a delivery, that a lesson for others. Commentators use to say “That’s a text book shot” for million times.
The cricket will miss his service for sure. I’m not going argue that you should retire on a high note because I respect your decision and you know the right delivery to score a boundary or defend it back with a straight bat. There is always life beyond cricket.
I have stopped following cricket and anything related to it for quiet some years.. But still when i came to hear this, those memories flashed for a moment.... You have contributed to cricket much beyond your limits. You are a legend. Thank you for those memories – My salute to Rahul Dravid.
