Farewell : Some Last day mails which stayed in me

1) Retirement & Thanks (03/12/2009 15:48)

hi all,
I joined IBM as a Computer Science student 36 years ago, and never thought I'd still be here all these years later. It's amazing to think there was no Microsoft, and we worked without PCs, laptops, email, spreadsheets, mobiles, even screens for mainframe access hadn't arrived in IBM departments. But, we did have 'punch girls' who translated our PL/1 programs that we wrote on coding sheets into punch cards which were then taken away by a courier, and returned the next day to tell you that your program failed on line 1 with a missing comma! It meant that you had to do a dozen jobs at once as each took so long.
One memorable moment during my student year was a program which produced output in the form of punched cards. It looped, and when I arrived in the office the next morning, early, there was a trolley parked by my desk, piled high with the punched cards that it had output. I went around the building putting them in every bin I could find, so that my department never found out!

I plan to keep busy in retirement and have lots of hobbies and activities, and may even get a part-time job after a while.
Retirees who are at DE level or above may request to continue working for IBM in retirement without pay, what a shame I can't do that :-)

To those of you who may be following me in this early-retirement window over the next few months, good luck in the future.

To celebrate my final day in the office, there are lots of cakes on Craig's desk, next to mine. Please pop round and day 'goodbye'.

2) My darkest evening..! (23/07/2010 20:55)

Dear ones,

To all those who know me, today is my Last day in ---. --- is more of my family. I have seen life in everyway here.
You taught me how to walk when I was just toddling. Now that I ve learnt to walk but wishing to walk away. I am bit guilty,. but what to do Change is a necessary phenomenon , change is inevitable, change is permanent., I still feel there is no halm in wanting to grow.

Being the first project in my career, I really enjoyed my tenure here learning & sharing all that I can from you. The cherishing memories I take from here can never fade away. They are my treasure of a great beginning. Still long way to go...

I have no more words to express, My heart is already heavy n wants to stay when my mind has already made up to leave, I am afraid of looking back, so I wish to thank and depart as soon as I can, strongly believing in a tomorrow filled with pure happiness knowing that this direction on the path is the one and only way I expected ..a tomorrow that will complete and fulfill my yesterday's wants and dreams.

Like a beloved Companion, you were really wonderful & co-operative. Thanks for being so Good & supportive. I will miss you very dearly..!
No doubt, today will be my darkest evening.

SOAR BEYOND YOUR FEARS !!!!

Once there was a king who received a gift of two magnificent falcons from Arabia. They were peregrine falcons, the most beautiful birds he had ever seen. He gave the precious birds to his head falconer to be trained.

Months passed and one day the head falconer informed the king that though one of the falcons was flying majestically, soaring high in the sky, the other bird had not moved from its branch since the day it had arrived.

The king summoned healers and sorcerers from all the land to tend to the falcon, but no one could make the bird fly. He presented the task to the member of his court, but the next day, the king saw through the palace window that the bird had still not moved from its perch. Having tried everything else, the king thought to himself, "May be I need someone more familiar with the countryside to understand the nature of this problem." So he cried out to his court, "Go and get a farmer."

In the morning, the king was thrilled to see the falcon soaring high above the palace gardens. He said to his court, "Bring me the doer of this miracle."

The court quickly located the farmer, who came and stood before the king. The king asked him, "How did you make the falcon fly?"

With his head bowed, the farmer said to the king, " It was very easy, your highness. I simply cut the branch where the bird was sitting."

We are all made to fly -- to realize our incredible potential as human beings. But instead of doing that, we sit on our branches, clinging to the things that are familiar to us. The possibilities are endless, but for most of us, they remain undiscovered. We conform to the familiar, the comfortable, the mundane. So for the most part, our lives are mediocre instead of exciting, thrilling and fulfilling.

So let us learn to destroy the branch of fear we cling to and free ourselves to the glory of flight.

A Promise

Good one i would like to share

From Jackie Chan's scrapbook for October 2005 i found this

"While going through some of the fan mail we receive, I came across a poem that I particularly liked. It was written by a lovely woman named Haarsha, who lives in South Africa. I wanted to share it with you - I'm sure you'll like it as much as I do!

A Promise

Wandering through the thickets of challenges
I saw a light at the end of the dark forest
The vines broke loose, the earth cleared a path
For me to make my way to bathe in its warm rays

The light gave to me warmth without asking
It changed the way I see, and the way I live
Oh so grateful my soul has become that now
Without it asking, I shall give sincerely indeed

What will a light need? What does a light need?
What can I give it? How can I make it brighter?
So what if it will not see my earnest attempts?
So what if it knows not of my appreciation?

My heart, with every beat will sing its praise

Complicated exercises or efforts are not needed to find peace. Simply understand that your true nature is peace.

Enlightenment Thought.
Through co-operating with others with your good wishes, you give them courage to move forwards in their life.

Self improvement Thought.
To be healthy internally is to make the best use of all treasures.

Expression:
A healthy intellect acts like a mother, always showing the right path. When internally one is strong, there is the natural ability to treat the mind with love and guide it towards the right direction. Such a healthy state of mind naturally enables the recognition and the proper utilization of everything available.

Experience:
Once I have learnt the art of guiding my mind in the right direction with love, I then never experience the difficulty of having to bring back the mind to the right thinking. Because the mind is totally under control in a very easy and natural way and I don't have to control it or force it to think or not to think in a particular way.

Aim to inspire rather than to teach.

The trick to problem solving is to get to the root of a problem before it even shows up.

Self improvement Thought.
To be free from waste words is to ensure easy success.

Expression:
The one who wastes time and energy in gossip or slander has no time for success. All attention is focussed on picking out the mistakes and the negativity of others and so there is no attention on learning new things or picking out the positive. So there is negativity visible in one's own attitude, words and actions.

Experience:
When I am able to free myself from waste and negative words, I am able to use the resource of my words in a positive and useful way. My words will be for the benefit of all. I would also notice that my words would be filled with the power of positivity and faith, faith in the self and faith in others.

Anger makes you mad, why not be sensible?

Be economical with your thoughts, time and words and you will be able to make use of the help that is coming to you.

Self improvement Thought.
Faith is the key to the best use of one's fortune.

Expression:
For the one who has faith, in the self and in things, there is only positivity. Under all circumstances, there are only opportunities and treasures seen. Each moment is an inner urge to discover these hidden treasures and make the best use of them. So the one who has faith draws out the best from each and every situation.

Experience:
When I am able to move forward with faith, I am encouraged to give my best under all circumstances and am able to enjoy the best fruit of the effort that I put in. Faith gives me the courage to go on even during difficult times and so I have the satisfaction of bringing about constant change and progress in my life.

Today dissolve each obstacle by considering it to be a gift.

There is victory for the person who opposes the weaknesses instead of the person.

Expression:
Instead of trying to win over a person who displays any negative qualities, one needs to oppose the negativity itself. The one who knows the art of doing this will never do anything to encourage the weakness in the other person but will provide all help to finish it fully.

Experience:
Since I am able to look at the weakness only and am trying to finish it, I will be free from negative feelings of dislike and hatred. There would be a genuine feeling of love, which in turn provides the right environment for the other person's growth.

There cannot be final result until you finish the effort.

To donate virtues is the greatest donation.

Expression:
To donate virtues means to express virtues through one's own words and actions. There is some or the other value revealed through all words and actions. The ones who constantly have the aim of donating virtues naturally bring benefit to all they come into contact with. No one would go away empty handed from such people.

Experience:
When I constantly have the aim of using my virtues I have the satisfaction of giving continuously under all circumstances. I also find my own treasures of virtues increasing and I find myself richer and better than what I was. Thus I experience constant progress in my life.

When you remain stable in the truth that your original nature is peace it gives the other person an opportunity to realise their own truth.

When ego is out of the way it is very easy to create an atmosphere of harmony.

The method to bring about change is forgiveness.

Expression:
Forgiveness means to have good wishes, cooperation, love, respect and faith. This becomes like a blessing for the one who needs to bring about change. Words spoken will then be powerful and easy. This will naturally bring faith in the other person in order to bring about natural transformation.

Experience:
When I give only correction I forget to forgive. But when I first forgive I am able to remain cool and easy. I am also able to forget the intensity of the mistake. So when I forgive and forget in this way, my forgiveness itself becomes a correction for the other person.

Expression:
There is a constant desire to do something better that makes a contribution to oneself and to others too. So the one who thinks of newness can bring about such a contribution. There will not be something different that can be done. But the same thing can be done in such a way that there is benefit visible.

Experience:
When I am able to bring newness in the way I do things, I am able to experience constant progress. There will also be the satisfaction of bringing about newness and creativity even in ordinary actions. Along with this will also be the satisfaction of making a contribution in every action of mine. The right environment to bring out the best result is naturally created by them.

Experience:
When I have an easy nature, I am able to put a full stop in a second with great ease. I am not caught with the waste questions and exclamations. So I am able to enjoy everything that comes my way and move forward constantly with lightness.

God has love even for sinners. All are children of God and so what right do I have to hate a child of God.

Self improvement Thought.
To be experienced means not to be deceived by anything. There are so many times when a situation takes us by surprise and we make the same mistake that we had made before. It is only when the situation has passed that we realize that we have actually repeated that mistake. What then remains is only repentance as the time has passed where we could have done something. Whenever there is a mistake, we need to take care that we learn from whatever has happened. When we continue to move forward in this way there will be no repentance for the mistakes made but there will be learning that'll make us experienced. And when we are experienced we'll never be deceived by situations which make us commit mistakes.

Take care of yourself with understanding and love, and make sure that you never compromise your own spiritual growth.

Enlightenment Thought.
It takes courage to remain forgiving, loving and merciful.

Self improvement Thought.
To forgive is to give correction.

Expression:
When there is forgiveness, the harm of the mistake is forgotten. The mistake itself is remembered only to the extent that the correction is to be given. So there are no negative feelings expressed even while giving correction. And the words that are used are few but prove to be very effective.

Experience:
When I learn the art of forgiving I am able to be free from the burden of negative and waste thinking. So there is never any difficulty in giving correction when necessary. The mind is free from the attitudes of the past and it creates harmony in relationships even if the opinions or personalities don't match.

Sometimes a smile can be like a drop of water in a desert.

Enlightenment Thought.
Staying centered in your elevated self-respect will help you remain undisturbed by others.

Self improvement Thought.
The one who is the master of the self is able to master situations and control people.

Expression:
If there is an attempt to control situations and people without trying to control the self it becomes impossible. It only takes things more out of control and leads to extreme emotions like anger. To be a master means to be a master of one's own feelings and emotions under all circumstances. It means to have the reins in one's own hands.

Experience:
When I am able to be a master of my own thoughts, feelings and emotions I am able to deal effectively with situations and people. I never go out of control or lose my cool however difficult the situation or person may be. This enables me to be aware of my own inner resources and use it to be the best of my ability.

Always wear the costume of humility and you will receive the love and co-operation of others.

Enlightenment Thought.
I can only give my best to others when I am in touch with the best in myself.

Self improvement Thought.
The one who serves others is the richest.

Expression:
To be in a position to serve others means to be aware of the resources and treasures within. When all the powers that are within are used for the benefit of the self and others they tend to multiply and increase. So the one who continues to serve others continues to become richer.

Experience:
When I serve, not only do I become richer with what I use, but for having served unselfishly I also become richer with the blessings and good wishes that emerge from the hearts of others. I am able to experience the real richness and beauty of life as there is a lot of love, happiness and joy in my life.

By developing an inward focus to your life, you develop the power to act in line with your true, positive nature.

Enlightenment Thought.
Is it possiblity to have unity in a nation when each one feels that he is better than his neighbor?

Self improvement Thought.
Fortune is in one's own hands.

Expression:
To have fortune in one's own hands doesn't mean to have it in the lines of one's hands. It means to have the ability to make the best use of all the resources available. When they are put to the best use, they naturally increase. Through right actions one can draw the line of fortune as long as desired.

Experience:
When I understand the significance of my actions and create an elevated fortune for myself through right actions, I am able to experience constant progress in my life. I also naturally become an inspiration for others too, so that they can discover their inner resources to create an elevated fortune for themselves.
